The science of yoga is, quite simply, the science of being in perfect alignment, in absolute harmony, in complete sync with existence.”

— Sadghuru

Yoga

My interpretation and engagement with the world has been completely redefined since completing my first teacher training with Meghan Currie at the end of 2019. I have slowly been unravelling my past, revisiting my childhood conditioning, and tearing them apart. I have been digesting each experience and synthesising the necessary information to consciously choose how I create my future and show up in the world.

The process of yoga is forever in the learning and unpeeling the sticky layers of the self until we reach the very core.

For this, I will always remain a student. I am riding the waves of this lifelong journey with Creature Yoga in Byron Bay, and Commune Yoga in Seattle USA.

How I teach yoga is a simple reflection of what I have learnt along the way and the influences that I have embodied from my teachers: Meghan Currie, Bess Prescott, Tahl Rinsky, Patrick Beach, Carling Nicole, Gwyn Williams, Rose Baudin, Dena Kingsberg and Carlos Pomeda.

Yoga Anatomy

"My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.”

— Maya Angelou

While I was training in orthopaedic surgery, I completed my Postgraduate Diploma of Surgical Anatomy. For six intense months, my head was filled with wild anatomical terms and cadaveric dissections at the University of Melbourne. My enthusiasm for anatomy led me to become an anatomy tutor for the following cohort of students. That passion laid dormant until I completed my first yoga teacher training and realised that there was a significant gap in the foundational knowledge of anatomy within many teacher trainings.

When I teach, I become the student. When I’m the student, I learn more and become better at what I teach. My desire to make anatomy fun, memorable and applicable has birthed a new passion project – teaching functional Yoga Anatomy to students and teachers alike.

I admit that it is impossible to teach detailed anatomy in 20 hours when I myself have spent years learning and re-learning it. As such, my current offerings are to teach Yoga Anatomy within the following frameworks:

  • A 200HR Yoga Teacher Training (YTT)

  • A 50HR Yoga Teacher Training, suitable as an advanced module within a 300HR YTT

  • A 100HR Yoga Teacher Training, broken down into a series of 5 x 20HR modules
